DAY
1
It is strongly recommended that no more than 25 individuals participate
in these sessions. These individuals
should include the College president, selected board members, senior college
leaders, department leaders and other critical faculty and staff from the
College.
8:15-8:30 Welcome

Understanding the 21st
Century Workforce Challenge
Through interaction and hands-on applications, participants will learn
how (1) key trends in the U.S. and global economy strongly indicate the need
for a more agile “global” workforce; (2) ”best practice” Community Colleges have
played a significant leadership role in addressing the education and workforce
demands of their local and regional economies;(3) the College’s community views
them from a workforce readiness position; and, (4) the seven elements of a workforce responsive college will enable
their institution to become a Workforce
Leadership College.
Beginning from the Inside
Through facilitated discussions, interaction and hands-on applications,
participants will review (1) research findings from their local workforce; (2) key
elements of award-winning workforce development units; (3) internal analysis of
the College’s strengths, challenges and opportunities for enhancement.
This presentation and facilitated discussion format will also be used
in Session 3 and 4.

Understanding Our Position
Through facilitated discussions, interaction and hands-on applications
, participants will learn how to identify and access the necessary
internal/external financial and other data resources needed to enhance the
workforce readiness reputation of its programs and strengthen partnership
activities with school systems..
3:15-4:30 Session 4
Moving To the Outside
Through facilitated discussions, interaction and hands-on applications,
participants will identify reasons why all College personnel will be expected
to take responsibility for relationship building to advance the College’s mission
as a Workforce Leadership Community College.
Taking Stock and Moving Forward
Through facilitated discussions, interaction and hands-on applications,
participants will discuss their findings and establish necessary plans for further
discussion of internal development and external engagement.
DAY
2
Participants include 7 to 10 individuals who participated in Day 1 of the Leadership Institute, and who have been designated as the Implementation Team by the college president. This Implementation Team will take the lead in overseeing the day-to-day follow-up necessary to make the plan become reality.
Action Planning
Through facilitated discussions, interaction and hands-on applications,
participants will focus on implementation planning relating to the seven
elements discussed on Day 1.
Possible discussion items could include creating five Action Steps for
each of the seven elements; Identifying appropriate staff and their
corresponding responsibilities for each action step; and establishing a schedule
of monthly team follow-up activities
Working Lunch and Demonstration
(OPTIONAL) –
CCLI team members will provide a demonstration of the CC Benefits suite
of services. These include data,
tools, and reports that help community and technical colleges prove their value
and plan for their future. Over 700 colleges across the nation have used the Socio-Economic
Impact (SEIM) Studies to quantify the enormous benefits they bring to their
students and communities. In addition,
the web-based Community College Strategic Planner (CCSP) gives hundreds of
colleges the regional data and analysis they need to optimize their offerings for
tomorrow's workforce.
After-Meeting Report
Within three weeks after the Leadership Institute, the college will
receive a 15 page Summary Report that reviews the key strengths, resources,
challenges and potential action steps identified by participants during the
Leadership Institute.
