LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE
Colleges can engage with the Community College Leadership Initiative for
programs and services focused on workforce and economic development needs,
career pathways, requirements of the Perkins Career and Technical Education
Act, and The Workforce Investment Act.
These programs and/or services vary in intensity and time commitment. All of CCLI’s services are customized to the
client’s specific needs.
Leadership Institute CCLI offers a one-day Leadership Institute aimed
at engaging key stakeholders within the Community College to determine ways to
become world-class workforce development facilitators. Participants will learn about research focusing on successful community college engagement with private and
public-sector organizations, conducting a self-analysis against benchmarks of other
institutions of higher learning that are recognized as effective in this arena.
In addition, college stakeholders will develop a vision, mission and
working plan for engaging other internal and external partners. (see a sample agenda for the Leadership Institute)
Executive Leadership Retreat CCLI’s services can be incorporated into a convocation or an executive leadership
retreat.
External Community
Stakeholder Engagement and Implementation Plan CCLI will work with a college and its
external stakeholders on a 12- to 24-month basis to validate, evaluate and
integrate the college workforce development inventory. CCLI will help create and implement workforce
initiatives and competitiveness agenda.
Working with the CCLI facilitators, the partners develop a
results-focused implementation plan and monitor progress against the plan. CCLI works with the leadership team comprised
of key stakeholders with a mix of conference calls and live meetings, and can
generate progress reports on an interim and summative basis.
Policy Analysis and Grant Assistance CCLI can also work with the college and its its
partners to receive assistance in implementing requirements of the Perkins
Career and Technical Education Act, the Workforce Investment Act and in
preparing applications for direct federal grants, such as the Department of
Labor High Growth-High Skills Initiative and the U.S. Department of Education’s
Smaller Learning Communities.
